Infertility Women Causes – Understanding Female Infertility

Women Causing Infertility – The Major Causes of Female Infertility

The female’s ovulation capability is a vital component of conception success. In short, a woman who has no means of producing an egg will have zero chance of conceiving. The main indicators of a possible ovulation problem are either absent or irregular monthly menstruation.

Real Life Situations

Two of the more common medical conditions involving ovulation are PCOS and POI. Polycystic ovarian syndrome affects the normal course of ovulation and is defined as a hormal problem. This is the highest recorded reason for female infertility.

On another note, primary ovarian insuffiency happens when the ovaries stop functioning properly even before a woman reaches 35. POI is often thought to be early menopause, which is a condition that is entirely different.

Related Causes

There are other uterine problems that also contribute to infertility.

- Uterual Fibroids (i.e. non-cancerous bumps on the uterine walls

- Clogged Fallopian tubes because of ectopic pregnancy surgery, pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis

- Physical problems with the uterus

Factors That Increase Infertility Risks

Aside from health problems, lifestyle and genetic elements can also cause infertility in women. To include:

- Cigarette smoking & alcohol consumption

- Insufficient nutrient intake due to poor diet

- Age

- Too much physical activity

- Excessive stress

- Overweight or underweight conditions

- STIs

- Health issues that affect the body’s hormone producing abilities

Infertility Women Causes – The Age Factor

Many working women often do not have children until their 30s and 40s…and one-third of the total number of fertility issues involve women who are more than 35 years old.

Why is Age a Key Factor to Fertility?

- Ovaries weaken over time, and this affects their egg-releasing capacity

- Generally speaking, an older female will produce less eggs than when she was young

- Eggs released by an older woman are no
1000
t as potent

- Older women may experience healthy issues that interfere with her fertility

- The incidence of miscarriage in older women is higher

Fertility Stimulating Medications

These drugs are often prescribed for women who have fertility problems.

- Clomiphene citrate: Often recommended for women with PCOS and hormonal related malfunctions. You might recognize it by its popular brand Clomid, an oral drug.

- Human menopausal gonadotropin: hMG is an injection used to stimulate the ovaries directly so that egg formation occurs. Repronex and Pergonal are two of the more popular medication brands.

- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog: Gn-RH is a medication often prescribed for women who don’t ovulate regularly. It works on the pituitary gland to dictate when ovulation happens. It can be purchased either as a nasal spray or in injection form.

- Follicle stimulating hormone: The FSH is also an injectable and acts on the ovaries to encourage ovulation. Popular brands are Gonal-F and Follistim.

- Metformin: Metformin is prescribed for women with either insulin resistance or PCOS. This drug, usually taken with FSH or clomiphene, is designed to balance out the male hormone levels in the female body and help women ovulate.

- Bromocriptine: Prolactin is a hormone that causes production of milk in the mammary glands. Sufficient levels of prolactin may cause a stop in ovulation. Bromocriptine can slow down the release of prolactin and help make ovulation happen.

Multiple Birth Risk

While fertility drugs can and often do succeed at helping women conceive, they can also result in the formation of multiple fetuses. Women who carry more than one fetus are prone to more pregnancy problems than those who carry just one. More than one fetus in the womb increases the risk for premature birth…and a prematurely born infant is more prone to developing health problems at a later age.

Certain fertility drugs may lead to a syndrome called ovarian hyperstimulation, a illness that may be fatal.

Due to the rising cost of assisted reproductive technology and increased health risks, alternative methods have been the route of choice to address infertility problems minus the side effects. Such remedies cover a wide range of natural treatments that are meant to assist body healing. Popular natural treatments include acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and nutritional therapy.
